The Modern Warfare series as most FPS gamers know is based loosely on true events, much like the other Call of Duty games and the Medal of Honor series which are often set during the World Wars in Europe. History writes the plot to put it simply.
Shortly after the confirmed death of the renowned terrorist Osama Bin Laden, and a few jokes about him being the Hide and Seek World Champion, and how it’s a miracle what gets done when PSN goes down, a few gamers started speculating if his death would appear as a mission in the Modern Warfare series or other First Person Shooters.
If something like this does come out in a later game or as DLC, I can imagine it being controversial in thousands of ways. It can include glorifying the deaths of people simply following orders/innocents, cheapening a momentous achievement in modern history to a videogame, incorrectly portraying how it went down, or simply branding it as propaganda.
Aside from that, companies will cash in on anything, and I would personally like to put a few bullets into Osama’s skull. Everything I wrote is just speculation coming from a bunch of random friends on the internet thinking it would be a good idea. Tell me, who wouldn’t want a chance to gun down Osama?
lol
I don’t care about Osama at all. He was a fallguy, he was the Emmanuel Goldstein to USA’s Big Brother.
Shooting Bush n Cheney on the other hand… that might be funny..
in a video game of course
doing it in real life would be WAY too much work
