Most of us have seen those red vending machines that allow for movie rentals. Redbox has been testing the market of videogame rentals for a few years now, and they’ve stepped up their own game by expanding the market from a few select areas to nationwide.
On June 17th, Redbox will release their service at over 20,000 locations, allowing for unlimited by-the-day on-demand rentals. The price of Redbox is higher per day on locations like Blockbuster and on the rental service Gamefly, but it has its own advantages of convenience and flexibility.
There have been many games I’ve bought and been nothing short of greatly disappointed in, like Devil May Cry 2 and Chrono Trigger for the DS. Being able to splash two bucks to try it out and throw it straight back in the next day with no “box was opened, we’re not taking it” rubbish is something I can get behind. Does anyone know if Blockbuster gives you money back or store credit for early returns?
