What does the largest selling video game of all time need…more maps and goodies according to Activision. Arriving this May will be a fresh batch of new Black Ops maps, and a patch for PC players to allow the use of modding tools. The modding tools will most likely provide lots of new community maps, modded weapons, and perhaps new interesting game modes.
On the flip side of things if you are playing on a console, then you at least have the “Escalation” map pack to look forward to launching on May 3rd exclusively for the Xbox 360. The new map pack will provide a total of 5 new maps, 4 of them being used for competitive online play and one new zombie experience. The zombie map always tends to get a little extra TLC in the development process it seems, but that for good reason you could say. Considering the last map pack set a record of 1.4 millions sales in the first 24 hrs, I imagine Activision is looking the once again break that record. This time around a pack with even more maps, this shouldn’t be a problem.
So regardless of what platform you are playing the biggest video game ever on, the content will just keep rolling. Don’t worry PS3 users, the DLC will make it too you eventually, there is just no exact date to provide at this time. Personally though, the PC modding tools have some great potential, I seem to remember a Star Wars mod for the original COD 4, oh the possibilities.
