Three Official Mods for Starcraft II

Three Official Mods for Starcraft II

Chris Hernandez 12 Apr

Have you captured all those in-game achievements in Starcraft II already? Not sure what to do now, well Blizzard has graciously and generously provided the community with three new mods, each with unique achievements. These are no simple map variations or basic game types, they are completely fresh ways to play the game.

Aiur Chef Each round focuses on a theme ingredient as well as three recipes that feature its flavor. Before you can master these themed dishes, you’ll first need to scout across the map and collect a variety of ingredients, including the theme ingredient. Each recipe has its own set of required ingredients, and can be acquired by looting objects off the ground or killing specific creatures.

StarJeweled (pictured) is pretty much Starcrafts version of Bejeweled, except that instead of points, matching gems gives you energy to create units that rush your opponent’s base. This gametype adds an extra level of complexity to the battleground as you also have to consider your enemy will be sending a specific type of creature your way.

Left 2 Die ,which is an obvious play on Left 4 Dead, is a cooperative version of Wings of Liberty’s Outbreak mission, where you train units during the day to survive waves of zergified Terrans and assorted other creatures during the night. New enemies like the Kaboomer and Stank will bust through your defences like infested marines could only dream of, so you’ll have to take advantage of the new research options to harden your base up.

It makes me wonder how long it will be until the Zerg campaign is released since it took almost a year to release these. Maybe before the end of the world we will have the whole trilogy, but that’s being hopeful.

Anyone played/enjoyed these already?
