It seems Nintendo should have already included some 3D images with the 3DS perhaps on the provided SD card or even as part of the first update, regardless it didn’t happen but Japan’s Julie Watai decided the 3DS needed something extra. The photographer/ model has created a collection of images that can be viewed on the 3DS in 3D! The zip file has been downloaded over 53,000 times.
The images of “Ai Amano”, Julie’s model name, are available as a free download here to all that are interested. This may also pave the way for other talented artists, or even Nintendo, creating a photo download service of some sort for those that enjoy stereoscopic images on their portable gaming device.
The images were created in collaboration with Japanese figure artist Kaz Asada. Apparently, standard 3D camera software makes it harder to stealthily retouch images – meaning that while this could be a possible cash-in with pay-for-pics, the lack of a Photoshop safety net could scare some idols away.
Those interested in viewing the images, download this file. On your computer, open the file and copy the folder titled “DCIM” on an SD card. Then insert that SD card into the Nintendo 3DS and launch the photo application.
