With the long awaited release of Duke Nukem Forever finally around the corner, their has been much talk regarding the lasting appeal that such a dated title would carry on. This problem or concern was quietly put to rest this morning after the proper detailed announcement of Duke Nukem Multiplayer. We have seen many games tack on multiplayer in the past to fill a requested void, but these modes do not always turn out. In the case of Duke Nukem, I feel that his faithful fan base may be keeping the online presence of Duke around longer than anticipated. The modes are as follows:
4 Modes will be available with 10 maps at launch:
Dukematch – Standard DeathMatch
TeamDuke Match – 8 player teams deathmatch (two teams of 4)
Capture the Babe – CTF Variant
Hail to the King – King of the Hill Variant
These modes seem pretty run of the mill, but I imagine the classic Duke flavor will kick things up a notch in order to keep things fresh and interesting. This will make a lot fans very happy to know that your Duke experience will last longer than the length of the single player.
