Batman: Arkham City Release Date Set for October 18

Batman: Arkham City Release Date Set for October 18

Angela Min 12 Mar

The long-awaited Batman: Arkham City game has finally got a release date. Warner Bros. and Rocksteady have finally announced that the game will be coming to North America on October 18th on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. For those who just can’t wait, we have three new screen shots from the game itself.

For those who watched earlier trailers and notices the Sionis Industries logo, you are in luck, as it seems that they will be a prominent figure in this game. If you aren’t too familiar with the DC Universe or this particular Batman foe, the Sionis family were one of the wealthiest industrialists in Gotham city. Roman Sionis, who later works for his father in Janus Cosmetics, falls in love with a working class secretary. When his parents disapprove, his goes into a fit of rage and burns down the family mansion, killing both his parents.

He inherits Janus Cosmetics and runs the company into bankruptcy, in which Bruce Wayne would propose a bail-out, in the condition that Sionis gives up control. Upon agreement, Sionis’ hatred of Bruce Wayne is furthered fueled, and he would later become the villain “Black Mask”.

Warner Bros and Rocksteady haven’t spoken too much about the casting for this new game, but it seems unlikely that they would so prominently display the company name without having some sort of appearance. What is known is who they have chosen to be the main villain in this game. Hugo Strange, one of the few Batman villains who know his true identity, and possibly one of the most sinister villains within the Batman franchise, as can be seen in the following trailer.

The last screen shot is of a Joker goon, whom by the looks of it will keep Batman’s hands full throughout the game. So, who is excited about this new release?
