After the NGP announcement that the device would have power similar to the PS3 rumours ran rampant that it would cost close to the PS3’s launch price. Sony has debunked these rumours after speaking with Endgadget, Yoshida was quoted as saying “It’s not going to be $599,” laughing off the idea that the system would cost as much as the PlayStation 3’s.
Considering the 3DS will be a more reasonable $250 it is safe to assume that the NGP will be no more than $350 for the wi-fi only version and perhaps a $50 premium for the 3G option. These of course are maximum figures and it is really all speculation until Sony makes it official. The eight cores and OLED screen can not be too cheap to manufacture so I don’t suspect my figures are far off.
I am sure the official pricing will come out of E3 since the system will be released this holiday.
