You may remember reading last week that Bungie had accidentally, or incidentally teased that DLC was on the way through some Bungie update screenshots. Well it turns out that the speculation’s can be put to rest, Bungie officially announced today that the Noble map pack will be available on the Xbox live marketplace for 800 points and will be available November 30th. Bungie released a proper statement on their website today that breaks down details on the three new maps that will make up the content. The maps are called Anchor 9, Tempest, and Breakpoint. Below are some screen shots and some proper Bungie explanations on what these maps are built for and what gametypes play best.
Anchor 9
“Within the confines of this low orbit dry-dock, UNSC craft undergo rapid repair and rearmament in support of the enduring war effort. But for the small squads of infantry who now fight over the mirrored interior hallways and open central hangar bay, this platform no longer provides any safe harbor whatsoever – whether the close quarters combat is occurring inside or out of its artificial gravitational field.”
Tempest
“This abandoned shoreline facility bends both sea and sky to an unnatural purpose, but the ground itself has quickly become another all too familiar battlefield. Though the two opposing symmetrical bases may never reveal their ancient purpose, both now offer makeshift shelter and access to strategic routes perfectly suited for small and large scale skirmishes alike.”
Breakpoint
“Atop this icy precipice, the Invasion continues. These modular archaeological labs were never intended to withstand such a large scale onslaught of Covenant military power, but the information being extracted here may prove vital to humanity’s survival. In response to the imminent Covenant threat, UNSC ground and air assets have been deployed to bolster entrenched Spartan countermeasures. This site must yield salvation, or it will become a grave.”
Bungie has stated that Anchor 9 is ideal for 2-8 players and recommends team slayer variants. The other maps are recommended for invasion and big team slayer variants due to their size. Regardless its nice to see that content is already on the way for such a feature rich game already. In the future it will be nice to see some more arena style, smaller maps, like the classic Guardian from Halo 3, but for now this is great. On a side note Bungie is also hosting a contest for all of you map map makers, so head on over to Bungie.net and see if you have what they are looking for.
