You won’t have to wait until next year to re-enter the sci-fi horror universe that Dead Space 2 promises to bring back to it’s fans. That’s right, the interactive comic book, Dead Space: Ignition, the prequel to the sequel, will be dropping in to Xbox Live Arcade tomorrow, the 13th.
Ignition follows techie Franco Delisle in the hours before the space station, known as The Sprawl, istaken over by a necromorph infestation. The game’s story is written by Antony Johnston, who previously told stories in the Dead Space universe with a six-issue comic series released in 2008.
Though it may not be a scaled down version of the popular horror game as you may have suspected, it will not likely disappoint. It will only be 400 MSP ($5) and is comprised of three ‘hacking’ mini-games that have high replayability, which are: Hardware Crack, Trace Route, and System Override. The title will play out like a Choose Your Own Adventure story, where players determine their fate by choosing from various plotlines. There are four distinct endings players can reach, but players can play only as Delisle.
Not only is it an enjoyable time to take your mind off Dead Space 2’s release date, but it also unlocks items for the sequel as well, such as a new suit of armour for Isaac. There have been no announcements as to the Playstation 3s release, though I am sure it will follow soon after.
Here is a Gamespot preview of Ignition:

It is a pretty reasonable price, but from what I can see it seems to created more for the die hard Dead Space fans, who just want more story.
