Blizzard Entertainment announced that the worldwide subscriber base for their World of Warcraft “now exceeds” 12 million players. This shockingly big number is due in part to the game’s recent launch in mainland china, according to a press release from the company.
Blizzard defines a subscriber as anyone who pays the subscription fee, has an active paid subscription card, and those who’ve recently purchased the game and are making use of their three free months. Even with the “free month” stipulation, reaching this many subscribers is quite epic and likely means Blizzard’s swimming pool of money will be filled to the brim for quite some time.
Cataclysm, the game’s latest expansion, will release on December 7 and will likely bring even more individuals into the fold. Do you plan on letting it suck you in?
