DSi Firmware Update Blocks Flash Carts

DSi Firmware Update Blocks Flash Carts

Chris Hernandez 14 Sep

This is some news to be aware of, all you homebrewers and pirates out there, the latest DSi firmware update 1.4.1U is out and will block your favourite flash cart. Most people using the carts probably already know to never update to any type of official firmware when using such devices, but it seems Nintendo is intent on stopping the rampant piracy that their handheld has fallen victim to. Some of the devices affected include : AceKard 2i, EZflash Vi, TTDSi and the R4DSi.

I am sure there will be updates for the various carts that will circumvent this update, but perhaps not. This is a hit to the homebrew community but a win against piracy, always a fine line when it comes to discussing such devices. This update only applies to the DSi not the DS Lite, for any who may have been confused.
