There has been a lot going on this past weekend, with IFA and PAX Prime going on, unfortunately we couldn’t be at either to report all the amazing news right away, but we were able to find out something pretty exciting. LG is releasing an series of OLED television sets that are the thinnest in the world, measuring in at 2.9mm thick, thinner than the width of your pinky finger, and they 31″ which is so small. They carry a hefty price tag in the tens of thousands of dollars, but this is impressive tech and as it becomes easier to manufacture it will certainly come down in price. We could sure use on of these around the IGX office. Check the video that Endgadget captured to truly understand how thin and beautiful this TV is.

WOW! Is no one else actually excited for this?! If it is Blu-Ray and HDMI compatible then i shall pick up a 50″ one as soon as they come down in price! Tech is really advancing super fast now!

I am totally excited about this. It is indeed HDMI compatible, the base is where everything plugs in, instead of behind the TV itself. I am guessing you it will not be until 2012 that you could get a 50″ version for under $5000
