Harmonix had mentioned a while ago that they would include a pro mode in their latest entry into the Rock Band series. I am sure many assumed that this would mean pro instruments as well, but who could have imagined that they would be releasing a fully-functional Squier by Fender Stratocaster.
This guitar can actually be plugged into an amp so you can listen to yourself shred it up while playing, or just test out those new pro skills on your own, and make your parents angry at the same time. Behind the strings there is some crazy tech that tracks the position of your fingers on the fingerboard, so you can actually play the game. This new peripheral is sure to be pricey, no figures have been announced, but I guess it will be around $230 for the stand-alone guitar.
If that seems a bit too steep a price for your wallet then Madcatz has a solution for you, they are also releasing a pro guitar, which will be styled after the Fender Mustang guitar. It doesn’t have real strings, but it does have 108 unique buttons that sort of look like strings. Also there are 6 ‘strings’ to strum to make you feel much more like a pro. This may not be a Squier but it is pretty darn close to a real guitar. It will cost you $149.99 for this mean piece of hardware.
Will you be picking either of these beasts up? Thoughts, opinions?
