The Verge is reporting that Microsoft is getting ready to release an Xbox branded gaming tablet, allegedly named the “Xbox Surface.” According to their sources, the new tablet will be released sometime before the launch of the next Xbox, and will feature SmartGlass connectivity with the new system.

Microsoft is going to make a “major” announcement this afternoon at 3:30pm PST, and if a new leak is true, Microsoft is going to announce a tablet-gaming console hybrid that may be the company’s answer to both Nintendo’s Wii U and Apple’s iPad.
