GOG.com has made a significant change to their privacy policy by no longer tracking your location based on IP. Geo-IP is not without its issues, having problems including giving completely false data, being spoofable, inaccurate, and generally an unreliable way to tell someone’s location.
The problem with PCs is that there is absolutely no universal standard for running games. The performance of an old game on a modern PC is completely hit and miss, it will run like a dream or shoot an error. More often the latter.
