The future of Atlus remains hazy, but that isn’t stopping Persona development team director Katsura Hashino from dropping some teasers about the future of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise.
In a post on the series’ official blog (translation via Siliconera,) Hashino thanked fans for their support and teased some big announcements regarding the future of the Persona and Shin Megami Tensei series.
“Next year is the 25th anniversary of the Atlus brand, and there is some news we’d like to share; however, we ask if you can be patient just a little longer. The new titles we’ve yet to announce are all currently being developed zealously. The only issue at the moment is simply how we can further better these titles. While we have been spending our busy days tackling various issues as usual, we’re still doing our best to not lose focus,” Hashino said.
In regards to Atlus’ reported sale to an as-yet-unnamed new owner, Hashino didn’t have much to say besides “Due to certain circumstances as of late, we really regret to have caused you to worry.”

It’s no secret that Atlus has been working on the highly anticipated Persona 5 for sometime now — Atlus has registered domain names pertaining to the game, and several members of the games staff have mentioned that they’ve started pre-production on the title. Persona 4 was definitely my favorite RPG of the PS2 generation, so I personally can’t wait — hopefully Atlus’ impending sale won’t effect development of the game in any way.
