Playstation Plus subscribers will be getting Square Enix’s Hitman Absolution for free tomorrow, Sony announced today. In addition to Hitman, several other games will also be added to PS+’s “Instant Game Collection” throughout August.
The recently released Zen Pinball 2: Star Wars Pinball will also be made free for PS3 subscribers, while PSP and Vita owners will receive Capcom’s Darkstalkers Chronicles: The Chaos Tower and Amantia Design’s artsy point and click adventure Machinarium.
In addition to the “free” games, the Playstation Store is also running a sale on Ubisoft’s Rayman series. The following titles have been discounted:
- Rayman Origins for PS3 -$9.99 regular sale price/$5 for PS+
- Rayman Origins for Vita – $13.49/$6.75 for PS+
- Rayman 3 HD (PS3) – $5.00 / $2.50 for PS+
- Rayman 2: The Great Escape (PS1 Classics) – $2.99/$1.50 for PS+
- Rayamn 2: Revolution (PS2 Classics) – $5/ $2.50 for PS+
- Rayman (PS1 Classics) – $2.99/$1.50 for PS+
The sale runs through the end of August, and now is the perfect time to get caught up on the Rayman series before this Fall’s Rayman Legends. You should definitely pick up Rayman Origins at that price — it’s one of the best 2D platformers in years, and as far as I’m concerned, it pulls off co-op platforming much better than Nintendo’s New Super Mario Bros. series. Neither the PS1 or PS2 ports of Rayman 2 are the best versions of the game, but if you don’t have access to an N64 or a Dreamcast, you might as well pick one of those up as well, as Rayman 2 is also one of the best 3D platformers ever made.
One final heads-up: if you’re interested in signing up for Playstation Plus (and I recommend that you do — I usually hate subscription services but I’ve been really happy with the service so far,) Best Buy is currently offering some deals on PS Plus subscription cards.
