Sony has announced that the Gran Turismo 6 demo will be available today after the PSN Store updates, and unlike Gran Turismo 5’s demo, you don’t have to pay $39.99 for it! Woo-hoo!
The demo lets you drive the Nissan Leaf, 370Z, and the GT-R through four “warm-up” races. Anyone who downloads the demo will be able to take part in the next round of Sony’s GT Academy competition: the players who set the fastest time trial lap times in the demo will be given a chance to join Nissan’s real-world racing team.
Personally, I’m still skeptical that skills honed in Gran Turismo can translate over to real world driving, but apparently Sony is so confident in the accuracy of their latest “real driving simulator” that they’re willing to give some lucky gamers the chance to become actual professional race car drivers.
I’m not going to take part in the competition myself, since I’m Asian and consequently probably drive like shit, but the rest of you are encouraged to get your lap times in before July 28th.

I wonder if they assume that the real life cars won’t get damage either when they hit the wall?

Gran Turismo 6 only features the most realistic simulations and advanced technologies ever seen in a racing game. OH WAIT
