Capcom has finally released the first English trailer for the highly anticipated Ace Attorney 5, which has been renamed “Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies” for Western territories.
I’m guessing that the “Dual Destinies” subtitle refers to the game’s two central protagonists, veteran defense attorney Phoenix Wright and his new partner, Athena Cykes, a lawyer and a psychologist who is able to analyze the emotions of witnesses. Ace Attorney 4’s main character, Apollo Justice, will also join Phoenix’s team, but he doesn’t get any love in this latest trailer. Dual Destinies takes place a year after AA4 and the story focuses on Phoenix’s return to the courtroom.
While Ace Attorney 5 got a retail release in Japan (as well as a fancy limited edition that included a bad-ass Phoenix Wright statue,) it seems like Dual Destinies will only be released digitally in the West via Nintendo’s e-shop. It’s disappointing news for fans who prefer physical copies, but given the series’ niche status outside of Japan, it’s not exactly surprising. Frankly, I’m just happy that we’re getting the game at all.
Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies will be released by Capcom this Fall.
