I think I’m going to go climb a large rock and whimper at the moon. Turns out, when everybody got all hot and bothered about an upcoming Okami announcement posted via Twitter, we were getting all uppity over nothing. According the the same official Okami Twitter page, the announcement won’t have anything to do with a new game reveal or sequel of any kind.
As the final nail in my Okami sequel coffin, Capcom USA corporate officer and senior vice president Christian Svensson replied to a recent post over on Capcom-Unity confirming that whatever the announcement entails, the USA division doesn’t have anything to do with it. Specifically, he pointed out that, “whatever it is, it’s likely only in Japan… I’ve got no details on what they were referring to (but as has been stated, whatever it is, it’s not a game).”
So, not only are we not getting any news about a potential Okami sequel, but whatever Okami-themed shenanigans are about to go down likely won’t include any regions outside of Japan. To quote my favorite Ninja Turtle, “major bummer, dudes.” I guess it was asking a bit too much of Capcom to continue on with a franchise that so many folks adore. I mean, how ’bout that Mega Man, AMIRITE?
Are you folks disappointed by the lack of any substantial Okami news forthcoming? Were you looking forward to hearing about a sequel or otherwise new chapter starring that lovable white wolf and crew? Share your thoughts, and bitter tears, in the comments section.
