Fighting fans rejoice, Evo 2013 just got a little bit better than it was before. Last night, it was revealed by Shoryuken‘s Joey “Mr. Wizard” Cuellar that the popular DC heroes fighter will be included in the world’s largest fighting game tournament.
Originally scheduled to only officially include eight games, side-tournaments aside, Injustice: Gods Among Us will be the ninth fighting game featured at the event. With the addition of Injustice, the complete list of games included in this year’s Evo tournament is as follows:
- Injustice: Gods Among Us
- Mortal Kombat 9
- Persona 4 Arena
- Street Fighter X Tekken 2013 Edition
- Super Smash Bros. Melee
- Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition Ver. 2012
- Tekken Tag Tournament 2
- The King of Fighters 13
- Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Evo 2013 will also include side-tournaments featuring other popular fighters such as Skullgirls, which earned an honorable mention after losing out a possible placement in the official tournament during a donation drive where Melee took home the eighth and thought-to-be final spot. The competition is set to take place July 12-14 at the Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
What do you think about Injustice snagging a spot in the tournament? Would you rather have seen a side-tournament fighting game get bumped up to the main stage? Or are you glad NetherRealm’s latest brawler found a way into this year’s competition? Share your thoughts in the usual place.
