Deals Roundup: Your Weekly Dose of PSN and Xbox Live Discounts

Deals Roundup: Your Weekly Dose of PSN and Xbox Live Discounts

Vincent Parisi 23 Apr

We’re headed into the final week of April, and with it the last great deals and sales for the month. Both Xbox Live and PSN have some great goodies for your perusal this week, but that’s not all. Today happens to be a special Gold Box deal day on Amazon, so all throughout the day there will be new sales popping up on games and related accessories. Furthermore, with the Wii U’s Spring Update rolling out this week, and the at-long-last launch of the Virtual Console, this will be the final week of Deals Roundup as you know it. From here on out, Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network will be sharing the spotlight with the Wii U, so any great deals from Nintendo’s eShop or Virtual Console will be listed here as well. Alright, on to the good stuff. Here are this week’s deals:

PS+ Free Game of the Week: Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny

As revealed by the official PlayStation Blog, Broken Destiny is now free to download for PS+ subscribers. The latest portable entry in the Soul Calibur franchise comes packed with all the features you’d expect out of a console version with the added luxury of playing anytime, anywhere. Originally releasing for the PSP, Broken Destiny is supported on the PS Vita, so there won’t be any compatibility issues. For those who missed out last week, now until April 30 is your last chance to pick up Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention (PS Vita) as part of the Instant Game Collection as well.

PSN Spring Fever Sale: Spring Fever is in full swing, and the PSN has some great Arcade and DLC downloads to take advantage of, including a huge Resident Evil franchise sale. These deals are so good, it’s scar… I hate myself. Anyway, here’s the list of discounted prices:

As for the discount on Arcade titles, this week features Thomas Was Alone, an original puzzle-platformer that is reminiscent of the title Sound Shapes in regards to it’s minimalist approach.

  • Thomas Was Alone (PS3 and PS Vita with Cross-buy Enabled)- $9.99 (PSN), $7.99 (PS+)

Shifting gears, here’s a look at the Amazon Gold Box deals ongoing throughout today. First is the Deal of the Day, a persistent sale that will continue while supplies last. That will be followed by the full list of lightning deals which will rotate every couple hours. For the sake of knowledge, I’ll include the previous lightning deals that have already expired as part of the list. For the deals that have not yet been announced, Amazon provides a single clue as to their identity, which I’ll include in place of the game’s title.

About The Author

Vincent Parisi

I guess I'm the typical, modern day nerd. I was raised right on Batman: TAS and old-school TMNT. I've been a core gamer since I was 2 years old (I was beating Mario before I could finish sentences) and haven't thought twice about it since. My favorite game genre is RPG for sure. I love the advent of channels like Nerdist and Geek and Sundry, and will never turn down an invitation to a Con. (Though I don't cosplay... yet.) I hate not owning the latest and greatest gadgets and aspire to find my place in the world of game journalism. Favorite Games: The Mass Effect trilogy, Super Mario World, the BioShock series, the Ratchet and Clank series, anything featuring Nolan North. Favorite shows: FireFly (Browncoats, unite!), Bones, Castle, Spectacular Spider-Man (RIP), Transformers Prime. Anything featuring the voice talents of Steve Blum, Gina Torres, Ashley Johnson, or Yuri Lowenthal. Favorite Comics: Amazing Spider-Man (Thanks for the memories), most things featuring Batman, any one where Green Arrow makes an appearance.
