It’s Tuesday folks, so let’s get right into it. Here are the weekly deals for Xbox Live Gold and PlayStation+ Subscribers.
XBL Deals of the Week: This week focuses heavily on fighting games (with one bizarre, yet entirely welcome addition), much like the final day of the “Xbox Ultimate Game Sale” that took place yesterday. Here’s what your hard-earned Microsoft Points can net you this week.
- Fighting Vipers: 160 Microsoft Points ($2)
- JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: 800 Microsoft Points ($10)
- Karateka: 400 Microsoft Points ($5)
- NIGHTS into Dreams: 400 Microsoft Points
- Sonic the Fighters: 160 Microsoft Points
- Virtua Fighter 2: 160 Microsoft Points
- Virtua Fighter: Final Showdown: 400 Microsoft Points
PS+ Deals of the Week: Sony has decided to go back to the old model of announcing the entire month’s worth of free PS+ content for the PlayStation 3, as opposed to announcing each game on a weekly basis. So while these games won’t be available all at once, they will, for a week at a time each, be free at some point during this month. For details, check the PS blog every Monday for updates.
Free games for March (North America):
- Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention (PS Vita)
- Joe Danger 2: The Movie (PS3)
- Spec Ops: The Line (PS3)
- Tekken 6 (PSP; PS Vita)
- The Cave (PS3)
Free games for March (Europe):
- Dead or Alive 5 (PS3)
- Joe Danger 2: The Movie (PS3)
- Mass Effect 3 (PS3)
- Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (PS Vita)
- Puddle (PS3)
PS Vita Anniversary Sale (Week 2): The Vita’s anniversary sale continues this week with discounted games for both basic PSN users as well as PS+ subscribers. As usual, I will provide a table chart to more effectively break down the pricing discounts. For those who don’t know or just forgot, the “Cross Buy” feature means that titles purchased for the PS3 or Vita will unlock the companion version for free. (i.e. buying the PS3 version will also give you the Vita version for free.)

Finally, the BIT.TRIP series is coming to the PSN, and in celebration of the occasion Sony has released to following statement on their official blog:
“The BIT.TRIP series arrives to the PlayStation family this week, and what better way to welcome it than to pick up this new addition to the critically acclaimed series with a 20% release week discount. Runner2 merges rhythm-action platforming with incredible music and unique environments to run, jump, slide, and kick towards your goal. Check out the video above and also read the PS Blog article featuring Mike Roush, co-founder of Gaijin Games to hear about their additional plans to bring the series to PS Vita.”
BIT.TRIP Presents Runner2 Future Legend Of Rhythm Alien:

That does it for this week’s deals and discounts. My personal recommendation would be to pick up NIGHTS into Dreams if you haven’t already. At just five bucks, that deal is seriously a steal; considering the HD remake also includes Christmas NIGHTS as a bonus. Check back next week for the latest buck-saving tips to get the most out of your console gaming experience.
Which of these games catch your interest? What are your thoughts on the Vita anniversary sale? Have the discounts persuaded you to pick up the portable, or are you still waiting for that “can’t be without” software announcement? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
