Storm Unity Hosts 24-Hour Mega Man Marathon for Charity this Weekend

Storm Unity Hosts 24-Hour Mega Man Marathon for Charity this Weekend

Vincent Parisi 15 Feb

If you’re in the mood to make the world a better place, you should consider heading over to Storm Unity’s official Twitch channel this weekend. Beginning Saturday, February 16 at 6:00pm ET, they will host a 24-hour Mega Man marathon in celebration of the blue bomber’s 25th anniversary.

In addition to mega-busting robot masters, the purpose of the festivities is to help raise money for Child’s Play, “an organization to better the lives of children in hospitals through the kindness and generosity of the video gaming community providing video games, toys, books, and other fun things for kids!”

The event details and further information can be found on the Storm Unity page, but here’s an overview of what events are planned for the charity marathon:

  • Completing all 10 original Mega Man games.
  • Interviews with Special Guests (HOPEFULLY!)
  • Raising money for Child’s Play Charity
  • Raffles for all who donate money to Child’s Play Charity! Prizes include:
  1. Mega Man beadsprites from Otaku Beadsmith
  2. Mega Man artwork from GAAM
  3. Gaming T-Shirts from the Drawp FGC Collection
  4. Customized Mega Man Custom Figure from Kodykoala
  5. Customized Mega Man Helmet Fleece Hat from The Roadstown Crafts
  6. …and more!

Storm Unity will be providing the full 100% percent of donations to Child’s Play.

Any chance to give the gaming community an opportunity to make a positive impact on the world is a worthy cause, so I’ll be sure to tune in at some point during the marathon. I encourage you all to do the same; and for those who are able, please donate.

Be sure to check back after the marathon and reconnect with fellow participants. There will likely be a follow up story posted once Storm Unity comments on how the event went over, so be sure to keep a lookout for that as well. For now, share your thoughts about which Mega Man title your most looking forward to seeing a run-through of. I’m a big fan of Mega Man 9; in addition to the classics, of course.

About The Author

Vincent Parisi

I guess I'm the typical, modern day nerd. I was raised right on Batman: TAS and old-school TMNT. I've been a core gamer since I was 2 years old (I was beating Mario before I could finish sentences) and haven't thought twice about it since. My favorite game genre is RPG for sure. I love the advent of channels like Nerdist and Geek and Sundry, and will never turn down an invitation to a Con. (Though I don't cosplay... yet.) I hate not owning the latest and greatest gadgets and aspire to find my place in the world of game journalism. Favorite Games: The Mass Effect trilogy, Super Mario World, the BioShock series, the Ratchet and Clank series, anything featuring Nolan North. Favorite shows: FireFly (Browncoats, unite!), Bones, Castle, Spectacular Spider-Man (RIP), Transformers Prime. Anything featuring the voice talents of Steve Blum, Gina Torres, Ashley Johnson, or Yuri Lowenthal. Favorite Comics: Amazing Spider-Man (Thanks for the memories), most things featuring Batman, any one where Green Arrow makes an appearance.
