A domain registrar affiliated with Square-Enix recently registered the domain name WarForNosgoth.com. In case you didn’t know, “Nosgoth” is the setting of Eidos’ once popular Legacy of Kain franchise. While nothing has been confirmed yet, this is a pretty strong sign that we’ll finally see the return of the series soon.
The rights to the Legacy of Kain franchise were bought up by S-E when they purchased Eidos a few years ago. The series has been dormant ever since 2003’s Legacy of Kain: Defiance, but given that every company nowadays seems intent on remaking or rebooting their old classics, it seems like Kain is due for another resurrection.
Personally, I’m pretty excited at the prospect of a new LoK game: I loved the first Soul Reaver, and while the ensuing sequels weren’t quite as great, they were decent enough games that at least managed to spin an interesting (if somewhat convoluted) story. Defiance’s finale left some open hooks out there for a direct continuation, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Square-Enix decided to go with a full, Tomb Raider style reboot in order to draw in new audiences.
Crystal Dynamics, the development studio behind most of the LoK games (sans the original, which was developed by Silicon Knights) is currently putting the finishing touches on the latest Tomb Raider, and I wouldn’t be surprised if their next project was a LoK game — the timing of this URL registration seems too perfect to just be a coincidence.

I hope it’s based on Unreal 4 engine and is made only for the next-gen consoles and current mid to high-end PC’s.
