If you’re in the market for a limited edition of a game that actually comes with something useful (as opposed to the rather embarrassing stuff we’ve been seeing lately,) then you might want to pre-order the upcoming “Battle Edition” of NetherRealm Studios’ upcoming DC Universe-based fighting game, Injustice: Gods Among Us.
The $149.99 Battle Edition comes with a copy of the game, codes to download special New 52 costume skins for Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman, as well as a special fight stick featuring the game’s cast. The fight stick features back-lit LED buttons, a non-slip surface on the bottom, and one of those “baseball bat” shaped sticks, which Americans seem to prefer over the Japanese “cherry” sticks for some reason.
$149.99 for a new game and a new fight stick isn’t a bad deal, provided that both the game and the fight stick end up being good, of course. Hell, at that price it’s cheaper than buying a Mad Catz stick by itself, so I’m tempted to get it even though I’m still iffy on Injustice: Gods Among Us. Of course, the stick could end up being cheap as hell, but if you’re really serious and competitive about fighting games, you were probably going to swap out the internals for Sanwa parts or something custom built anyway.
Anyway, the Battle Edition of Injustice: Gods Among Us will ship on the same day as the plain, $59.99 edition of the game, on April 16. While the game will be available for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U, the Battle Edition is exclusive to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game.
