What started out as a Kickstarter with a meager $5,000 goal turned into a project that over doubled their money. After having used the mounts myself I can say they have churned out a great product while being entirely innovative and practical.
The biggest draw of this mount is not only that is highly portable, it also will not damage your walls when you move the mounts. Using 3M adhesive technology the Koala mount will not remove paint from walls. I feared this myself and tested them on a small, dark, corner and I had attached them, set a Samsung ATIV S tablet on the metallic mounts then left it for a few hours. I removed the tablet and mounts and no paint came off with them, I then reattached them in the kitchen, where it is most useful to have a tablet on the wall, without losing any adhesive capabilities. It comes with an additional set of adhesive sticks in case you wear out the first set.
The “blades” that hold the tablet seem very durable and are also quite sleek. They were designed to be friendly with your iPads’ smart cover as well, so no need to remove your cover when inserting it in the mount. In addition to this there is also a slot for charge cables, so they do not clutter the counter while you are trying to cook.
There are quite a few uses for this type of mount, being able to move the mounts quickly and easily means it can go from being your recipe book to having a second screen near your laptop or computer when space is tight on the desk. It works with iPad 1 and 2, Samsung ATIV S and any other tablet that is less than 11mm thick.
You can purchase the Koala mount through Dockem.
