First, my famous low-down. I do warn you if you haven’t played the first two, this is going to be a spoiler. No worries on the newest one though..just skip to the bottom if you’d like. This is for the peeps that haste on threw to the newest games without playing the previous ones but still want some background story, even though they don’t pick up where the others left off.
In the original shooter, Far Cry, you play a man named Jack whom is starting over with a new life and a new source of income. A boat-charter business. Sounds fun but unfortunately, for him, he ran into an undercover CIA agent named Valerie, who changed his life from that point on. Val hires him to take her out to an unknown island, where she ditches him via jet-ski. His new boat is blown to bits, by a mercenary rocket and Jack is now stranded, alone, in a thick jungle island. In a search for Valerie he runs into some unfriendly folks. The experimenting with genetic DNA modifying types. I’m not talking Wolverine here folks. Elite mercenaries and mutated beasts of all sorts are hiding in the bush to ambush you at any giving moment.
Reuniting on and off with Val at certain points in the game. You come to discover that there is a factory on this island that is conducting these experiments and you are convinced the only way to stop this cruelty is to blow it up with a nuke that is somewhere on the island. Before doing so Jack and Val both inject themselves with an “anti” serum so they are not infected from any fumes from the blast. However, it is later revealed that one can only become infected if they are purposefully injected. El oh el. Funny. Welcome to project Far Cry.
Lucky for you there is a volcano nearby, like on all islands. In a perfectly timed manner this volcano decides to blow itself up and takes care of the job of destroying everything for you, including magically healing your mutagen, naturally. Thanks Volcano God!
Far Cry 2 does not continue on where the first Far Cry left off. Instead you are playing AS a mercenary, sent to take out the Jackal. A corrupt arms dealer that is selling his goods to BOTH civil war militant factions, the Alliance for Popular Resistance and the United Front for Liberation and Labour. A cute little bloodsucker, more commonly known as the mosquito, gave you malaria and you are too weak to fight the Jackal. Failing the mission you are dumped by those who sent you and you now have to decide which civil faction side you want to fight on. In time the Jackal and you become good pals and you work along side one another as the Jackal has changed his point of views. How nice. He asks you to go to a large canyon-ish location, which he calls the “Heart of Darkness. There you are to retrieve a case full of diamonds. Inside, you come across friends which you thought previously were dead. They need the case to leave the country and will kill you for it. But you kill them first, having to relive their deaths. Once outside the Jackal tells you that in order to save 2,000,000+ refugees you must bribe the boarder guards with the diamonds. And one of the two of you who decides to do this has to commit suicide as well because you’re both said to have no place in society with your terminal diseases. The other person must haul their hairy bum to the bridge and detonate a car battery so that the guards do not go after the refugees. Decisions, decisions. Well no worries, you both die anyways.
So finally, here we are, Far Cry 3. Brody, Jason Brody is the name. I was just an innocent tourist enjoying this gorgeous island with my girlfriend ,Liza, but then she was kidnapped. I became stranded here. Desperate to find her, but i am surrounded by
deranged psychics overpopulating this place. What else could go wrong? Doug, my brother, was found dead, murdered. Human’s being trafficked as slaves, being hunted down and sold to warlords. I need to find Liza and get off this insane island before things can get any possibly worse. If I have to play by the inhabitants rules
to survive, so be it, but survive I will!
