Blizzard is releasing an expansion to Starcraft fans titled: “Heart of the Swarm” due out March 12, of next year, that’d be, 2013 if the Mayan calendar hasn’t doomed us this December. The popular military Sci-Fi video game that uses real-time strategy was first released back in 1998, on yet again, the best month of the year, March. (March is the month of my Birthday.) Focusing on three main species that are fighting to dominate a far part of the Milky Way galaxy. Humans, known as Terrans, from Earth of course, are adaptable to multiple situations. A nasty looking Insect Colony known as the Zerg, which love to rid the universe of other races in the ever revolving pursuit of genetic perfection, i.e, me. Then there is a humonoid type that likes to be known as the Protoss that use psionic (mind) abilities and utilize their advanced technology. I think my mother must be a Protoss, minus the advanced technology part.Starcraft is held up extremely high by many tech, video game, magazine and television reviewers. The game is often referred to as one of the best games of all time and more than 11 million copies sold worldwide. No wonder the franchise continued on with its long awaited sequel StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty. Another successful product of Blizzard Entertainment, this game continues on with the battle of the Terrans, Zerg and the Protoss, however new heroes, and new upgradeable units were added in. Enhancements and new multiplayer modes were also included.
Just to show how huge this franchise is, Blizzard Entertainment’s Battle.net throws a global championship to see who the ultimate Starcraft Champion is. Kind of gives you the World War III feeling when we’re talking about North America vs. Europe, Asia, South America and our Oceanic friends. You represent YOUR country. First place reward? Oh, only a wee bit amount of $100,000.
So in this new Expansion, You now play as Sarah Kerrigan, whom is the former Queen of Blades. Imprisoned inside a high-security laboratory obsessed with new research, you need to excape and take back what was once yours, The Heart of the Swarm. Hell bent on vengeance, unleash your wrath with your air Tempest, cremate enemies with your Battle Hellion or consume your foes with the Swarm Host. Your brood is evolvable which means amplified annihilation! You know what they say; Hell Hath no fury, like a woman scorned.
