Sony discounts PS3, Vita bundles to $200 on Black Friday

Sony discounts PS3, Vita bundles to $200 on Black Friday

Michael Lacerna 16 Nov

Nintendo’s got the Wii U,Microsoft has Halo 4 to carry them through the holidays, and Sony is hoping some substantial price-cuts will give them the edge this holiday season: today Sony announced that specific hardware bundles on both the PS3 and Vita will see a significant price-cut on Black Friday.

The PS3 in particular gets a very nice bundle: for $199.99 you get a new 250GB PS3 with five games: Uncharted, Uncharted 2, Infamous, Infamous 2, and Infamous: Festival of Blood. In case that wasn’t enough to keep you busy this Christmas, the bundle also includes a trial subscription to Sony’s Playstation Plus service. In addition to the system bundle, Sony announced that all PS3 controllers will receive a slight discount to $39.99 each at participating retailers.

The Vita is getting an aggressive price-cut as well: WiFi-only versions of the console bundled with the newly released Assassin’s Creed: Liberation and Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified will run you $199.99 each. Of course, both AC: Liberation and Black Ops Declassified have been getting pretty poor reviews, but buying the bundles will actually cost you less than buying the system on it’s own, so it’s still a better value. PROTIP: Trade in that copy of Black Ops Declassified for one of the Vita’s genuinely good games, like Gravity Rush or Persona 4.

As far as I can tell, these deals will only be available for one day only, so it might be worth it to risk getting trampled by a horde of angry soccer moms at Wal-Mart to pick one of these systems up.
