Platinum Games’ multiplayer beat-em-up Anarchy Reigns was originally scheduled to hit American shores this past summer. The game got a less than enthusiastic sales when it was released in Japan, so publisher Sega decided to cancel the game’s summer release, much to chagrin of Platinum’s hardcore followers. Seems like Sega has finally decided to give Anarchy Reigns a second chance, as they announced today that the game will finally see an American and European release next January.
Better yet, the game will come out at the budget price of $29.99 (£19.99/€24.99,) which should hopefully entice post-holiday season crowds into giving the game a chance. In case you haven’t heard of the game yet, Anarchy Reigns is a competitive online beat-em-up that features a lot of the same staff that created cult favorite GodHand for PS2.
The game features many of Platinum’s original characters, including Jack from the underrated Wii exclusive Mad World, and of course, Bayonetta. With the upcoming Bayonetta 2 being published by Nintendo, Anarchy Reigns might just be the last chance that Xbox and Playstation fanboys will get to play as Platinum’s bullet-slinging witch. In addition to those cameos, the game also features a cast of brand new weirdo’s to play as as well.
Anarchy Reigns will be released for PS3 and Xbox 360 on January 8th in North America and on January 11th in Europe.
