Fans of Hideo Kojima’s two biggest franchises (no, I am not talking about Tokimeki Memorial,) better start saving up their money now, because Konami announced today that the next releases in the Metal Gear and Zone of the Enders franchises will both launch with special edition bonuses.
The Zone of the Enders HD Collection Collector’s Edition package includes the game, a soundtrack CD, and a 100 page art book featuring concept art from both games. The soundtrack CD also contains special remixes of classic ZoE music. The $60 special edition hits North American stores on October 30th, alongside the slightly cheaper regular edition ($40.)
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, meanwhile, will be getting a collector’s edition that bundles the game with a “plasma lamp” in the shape of Raiden’s sword. In case you forgot, “plasma lamps” are those crystal ball looking things they usually sell at novelty stores which have arcs of electricity running through them. It’s a pretty weird bonus to package with a game, but I’m sure it will make for a neat curio, and it matches the game’s lightning motif. No price or other details regarding the MGR special edition have been revealed as of yet. Metal Gear Rising will be released in the US on February 19.
It’s worth noting that the Zone of the Enders HD Collection also includes a demo for Metal Gear Rising, so hardcore Kojima fanatics can get a taste of MGR before they decide if they want to shell out for the special edition.
