Today EA and Bioware finally officially announced that Dragon Age 3: Inquisition is in development. The game was unintentionally unveiled earlier this year when a marketing survey accidentally divulged the first details about the game, and as such, today’s official unveiling didn’t reveal much about the game that we didn’t already know.
Instead of running on the same engine that powered Bioware’s previous games, Dragon Age 3 runs on DICE’s Frostbite 2 engine, the same engine that powered Battlefield 3. Despite being developed on a game engine that’s most closely associated with first person shooters, Bioware general manager Aaron Flynn says that Dragon Age 3 will be an RPG, and it will directly address criticisms levied by fans who thought that DA2 was too shallow and too action-oriented. In response to DA2’s mixed reaction, Flynn stated “They haven’t held back, so we’re not either. With Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, we want to give fans what they’re asking for – a great story with choices that matter, a massive world to explore, deep customization and combat that is both tactical and visceral.”
Bioware is keeping silent about the game’s story and actual gameplay, but the title of the game seems to suggest that story tibits from the leaked marketing survey, concerning an Inquisitor trying to stop a magical blight that’s spreading across the land, were accurate.
So Dragon Age fans, what do you want from DA3? A traditional RPG experience a-la the first game and its expansion, or something more action oriented like most of Bioware’s more recent games? You’ve got plenty of time to speculate, since EA says Dragon Age 3 won’t be released until late 2013.

I want Dragon Age 2 with more unique areas to explore and a more epic story as I loved the gameplay.
