City of Heroes shutting down, Paragon Studios closing

City of Heroes was one of the longest running MMO’s still on the market, but sadly the game and the development studio behind it will both be shutting down this Novermber.

Today City of Heroes’ publisher, NC Soft, announced that it would be closing developer Paragon Studios and shutting down City of Heroes’ servers on November 30th.

City of Heroes was originally released in 2004, and received a positive reception from both critics and players alike for its unique super hero setting. The game went free-to-play last year, but apparently the change didn’t generate enough revenue to keep NC Soft happy.

Fans of the game can at least enjoy a few more months of the game, as the game won’t go offline until November 30th. The in-game cash shop has already been closed, and any remaining subscriptions will be cancelled.
