Nintendo will once again be hosting one of their Nintendo Direct livestreamed presentations tomorrow, August 29th. As the Wii U’s supposed Fall 2012 launch date approaches, you’d think Nintendo would want to start building hype now, but apparently tomorrow’s broadcast will focus solely on the 3DS and the Wii.
As with previous Nintendo Direct broadcasts, the event itself will be hosted by Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata. Iwata himself stated on Twitter that Nintendo won’t be revealing anything about the Wii U — such as its price, launch date, or line-up — tomorrow. While I know everyone is anxious to hear more concrete details regarding the launch of Nintendo’s next console, I suppose Nintendo is just saving their big Wii U announcements for the press conference that they’re holding in New York City on September 13th. Official details regarding the original Wii and 3DS launches were also made at similarly timed events.
With that said, I can’t imagine what Nintendo will have to talk about tomorrow if they’re focusing strictly on the 3DS and Wii — Nintendo has already announced their Fall line-up for the 3DS, which is strangely anemic considering the system’s recent boon in popularity. I also can’t imagine what they’d have to talk about in regards to the original Wii, since releases for that system have all but dried up; perhaps they’ll simply show more footage from the Kirby Anniversary Collection, which looks like it may just be the last notable Wii release in any territory.
