Where the hell were these types of deals when I was in school? As I sat around trying to figure out how many lawns I would have to mow just to be able to purchase a Nintendo, I would never know how easy it would be to get a new PC and an Xbox 360 all at the same time. Apparently, Microsoft is a fan of people going to school and being ready to try out their brand new Windows 8 software. The company has teamed up with several PC vendors to offer students the deal of a lifetime.
If you are in the market for a new computer in the first place, you might as well be looking for this deal and get a new Xbox 360 out of it. According to what I am reading online, the deal works like this. All you have to do is buy a PC for $699 or more from Dell, HP, Best Buy, Newegg or the Microsoft Store, then show proof that you are enrolled in school with an email address or student ID number. You will then be able to get your free Xbox and an upgrade to Windows 8 for just $14.99. I could really care less about getting the upgrade to Windows 8, especially after reading the beta reviews online, but having anther Xbox 360 to take my mind of studies is sure a nice incentive.
This deal is only available for students “while supplies last”, I know I love that too, and will be ending regardless on September the 8th, so hurry up and get to convincing your parents you are in need of a new PC to keep your college grades up this year. If you have an Xbox 360 already and cannot find any reason you would want another one, you can get a similar deal at Staples. They are offering the same PC deal, but instead you can get a $100 VISA prepaid card in place of the Xbox 360 that is available with the other deal.
If this deal seems like a little Deja Vu, it might be. Microsoft played the same game with students last year when they offered up a free 4GB Xbox 360 for those that bought a new PC between May 22nd and September 3rd. If you do not have an Xbox 360 and are wishing you could play some of the kick ass games that are not available on the PS3, then you might want to consider the deal, or just buy an Xbox 360, it makes no difference to me.
