Team Ninja felt up real girls as research for DOA5′s physics

Developers often go to great lengths to make sure their games offer an authentic experience: art directors will spend hours pouring over photographs and will even travel to exotic locations in order to get the look and feel of a setting right. Metal Gear Solid’s designers even took a few courses of real military training. What did Team Ninja do to make sure their upcoming fighter Dead or Alive 5 was as real as possible? Well, they touched a lot of boobs, of course.

During an interview with Playstation Universe, Team Ninja head producer Yosuke Hayashi bragged that his team went “hands-on” with the breasts of their real-life partners and female members of the team (…who hopefully all volunteered for the project) in order to, uh, “research” how breast physics work in real-life. I guess we should all applaud Team Ninja for the, uh, “hard” work they put into making sure Dead or Alive 5 was as realistic as possible.

Team Ninja originally stated that they would be toning down the DoA’s series’ infamously gratuitous sex appeal in an attempt to try to get more people to take the game seriously, but I guess they gave up on that once they realized that mammaries are enough to convince men to buy their game.

Team Ninja’s former leader, Tomonobu Itagaki, was famous for saying some incredible, often ridiculous statements about game design, and it seems like Team Ninja wants to keep their former boss’ habits alive even though he doesn’t work there anymore.

Dead or Alive 5 launches worldwide on the Xbox 360 and PS3 on September 25th. That should give you plenty of time to stockpile lotion.
