12 new characters hit Street Fighter X Tekken as DLC

12 new characters hit Street Fighter X Tekken as DLC

Michael Lacerna 09 Jul

This weekend the world’s best fighting game players gathered at the EVO 2012 tournament, and Capcom used the occasion to announce the line-up for Street Fighter x Tekken’s upcoming DLC pack, which hits PSN and XBL on July 31st.

On the Street Fighter side, the DLC adds in Elena and Dudley from SF3, Guy and Cody from Final Fight and Street Fighter Alpha, as well as fan favorites Blanka and Sakura. The new Tekken fighters joining the roster are Bryan Fury, Christie, Jack, Lei, and Lars.

In addition to the $20 price tag for the new characters, 12 new costumes will be available as seperate DLC, priced at $1 each.

The DLC will launch simultaneously with a new patch, which will rebalance certain characters and fix some of the infinite loops that players have discovered (and exploited) since the game came out.

It’s worth noting that people who buy the PS Vita version of SFxT, or who get the upcoming Street Fighter 25th anniversary box, will get all of the game’s DLC content for free.

Capcom seems well aware that fans weren’t happy when some of this DLC content was discovered on the game’s disc after release — Capcom still claims that it was merely placeholder data to facilitate the DLC additions later on (similar to how Skyrim has extra areas on its disc that will be used in later DLC,) — but as always, fans aren’t happy about having to pay an extra fee in order to stay competitive. The pricing of the DLC certainly doesn’t help Capcom’s rep much either, but I’m sure SF4 and especially Marvel Vs. Capcom players will agree with me that paying $20 for DLC is certainly preferable to having to buy a new $40 game in order to keep up with the updates.
