Valve and Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim programming block are teaming up to make “something you’ll probably enjoy.” In true Valve fashion, they aren’t saying what that “something” is, but unlike most Valve products, this one kind-of has a release date: next week.
The teaser page on Adult Swim’s website seems to suggest that the collaboration between the two companies will be Team Fortress 2 related. The specifics of the project are still anyone’s guess: is it a Team Fortress 2 cartoon? Or are there going to be Adult Swim themed items in TF2? Or maybe this is all just an elaborate ruse to get us to stop complaining about Half-Life 3 for a week.
The two companies seem like they’d be a good match for each other: Team Fortress 2’s brand of witty, absurdist humor is a good match for Adult Swim’s trademark brand of alt-comedy, and they certainly share the same demographic of snarky twenty-somethings who’ve probably spent too much time on the internet. I suppose we’ll have to wait until next week to find out, but in the meantime, let’s all enjoy the wildly insane theories that the internet is sure to come up with until then.
