E3 2012: Little Big Planet Karting Hands-On

E3 2012: Little Big Planet Karting Hands-On

Angela Min 07 Jun

Little Big Planet Karting at first glance is a re-skinned version of Mario Kart. The basic premise of the game is to race around the track with your friends (or bots) and beat them with the various items you pick up and your ability to not run into any traps while you accelerate and drift.

The difference lies in the user generated content. Unlike Mario Kart, Little Big Planet Karting gives the users the ability to create their own race tracks and upload them online. The problem with Mario Kart is the fact that after you figure out all the tracks, you’re done. With user generated tracks, the possibilities and races are endless, giving you the benfit of karting around with your friends for hours.

Another feature I would like to point out is drifting. If you hold down the R1 button on your controller, you have the ability to drift you kart around the track, and the longer you drift, the faster you go.

Overall, I enjoyed the game (even though I was 8th place every time) and am looking forward to it’s release later this year.
