Epic Mickey always looked pretty amazing to me, but I never actually went out and bought the game. This mostly has to do with the fact that I haven’t touched my Wii in two years and I don’t own a Kinect or Move. With that being said, I found the demo for Epic Mickey 2 quite fun.
I would first like to point out that I have never played with a Sony Move so some of this hands-on experience may have to do with the fact that I was incredibly ill-prepared for the controls. My cousin played the role of Mickey while I played the role of Oswald. Together, we ran through a couple of small obstacles to learn how to jump properly so that beating the boss in the next level would be a bit easier. When we finally made it to the portal, we found ourselves faced with Pete’s Dragon (or as the green dragon from the Disney electrical parade, as I so lovingly refer to him) whom we have to take down. As Mickey paints and thins, Oswald uses electrical currents to freeze the green dragon in his tracks. We beat the level together and I am pleasantly surprised at how much I actually enjoyed playing this game.
Co-op seems to be key in this game, and without communicating to your partner, it’s quite hard to beat. The game will become available on November 18 for the Wii, XBOX 360 and PS3. Before then, maybe I should invest some of my income into the first game.
