Every Tuesday (ok, well almost every Tuesday) I like to take some time to focus on the hardworking and dedicated “YouTubers” within the gaming community. This week I’m focusing on a game I love to watch, but hate to play; Starcraft 2. Maybe I don’t have the patience to learn how to play properly, or maybe I’m just bad, but at least MaximusBlack and Novawar over at LagTV make it fun for me to sit and watch other bad people play some Starcraft. Their series “When Cheese Fails” focuses on some of the less noble strategies in the Starcraft universe, mocking those who can’t even play poorly correctly. These two don’t hold anything back and have no problem offending those who claim victory through proxy pylons and all-in drone rushes.
As the series name implies, Maximusblack and Novawar give their uniquely insightful and obviously offensive brand of commentary to games in which someone fails at cheesing. Now this isn’t mindless fun, these two have enough knowledge to give legitimate cheese and anti-cheese strategies on the fly while casting. When a player commits to an early drone rush, these two will manage to make them look foolish by pointing out how to easily defend against such tactics, as well as ridiculing the cheesier for lesser brain function.
Below is their most popular video, and while I won’t give away what happens, I can say that the reactions of both Maxiumsblack and Novawar are priceless. It didn’t really matter what happened in the game, these two can make anything funny.
