Feel like buying a game this week? Well, why buy one game when you can get three! Both Amazon and Target are running a sale this week that should make frugal gamers (read: broke-ass bastards) very happy. If you don’t mind the hassle of having to go outside, Target’s sale seems pretty worthwhile: all regularly priced games from $14.99-$59.99 (basically everything that’s not bargain bin shovelware/clearance or a more expensive collector’s edition,) qualifies for the buy 2 get 1 free sale. Target has also temporarily dropped the price of the 3DS to $145 for this week, so now might be a good time to pick up both the system and 3 games with a decent discount.
Amazon has tried to match Target’s generosity with a buy 2 get 1 free sale of their own, though their sales is limited to certain titles. There’s a fair amount of new releases included in the sale, so if you’ve missed out on say, Mass Effect 3 (seriously, it’s still a good game despite the ending,) Twisted Metal, or Silent Hill Downpour, now might be a good time to get them. Just be sure to do yourself a favor and avoid Ninja Gaiden 3 and Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, even if you can technically get them for free as part of the deal. Even at $0, those games just aren’t worth it. You’ll thank me later.
There’s also a fair selection of older but still worthwhile titles in Amazon’s sale, including the recently re-printed Radiant Historia, as well as most of the Nintendo Selects line of Wii titles, and most of Square-Enix’s PSP library. Dark Souls is also part of the deal, so if you want to prove how crazy hardcore you are while at the same time spending a fiscally sane amount of money, you might as well take this chance.
Target’s deal runs until Sunday, and I’m assuming Amazon’s sale will only last a few days as well.
