Pyramid Head Rape Scene Edited in Silent Hill 2 HD?

Pyramid Head Rape Scene Edited in Silent Hill 2 HD?

Rian Quenlin 22 Mar

If you’re a fan of horror, you know who Pyramid Head is. If you don’t, he is an antagonist in Silent Hill 2, a powerful beast that wields a hefty meat cleaver, mowing down anything in his path. He’s also a rapist who has his way with a few demons in the games. Gamers spotted that the scene in which he rapes a pair of mannequins was different in the HD version of the game.

Edit: Devin has pointed out that a short “hitch” in the loading of the rape scene removed the more graphic portion, guess it was a timing issue after all. See, this is why you bugtest your games with a microscope.

Silent Hill is known for its disturbing and controversial subject matter, and has been edited a few times to tone down the most extreme or more disturbing aspects. The specific scene is when James comes across Pyramid Head having his way with two monsters. He hides as Pyramid Head makes his exit.

Though disturbing, the scene is quite iconic and well-known. Though graphic, it’s not exactly explicit. Because of the rather numerous issues in the HD remake, some have wondered whether this is a glitch, or the scene itself was actually edited as the subject of rape is a very touchy one. I’m leaning towards edit since it’s more obvious than censorship of Comedy Central movies, cutting out the start of it almost instantly. Still, with some issues that SH2HD has had, it could genuinely be a timing issue.

Though I completely understand showing sympathy to people that have had the misfortune of suffering rape, people are much more likely to be upset about censorship of any kind, especially if they’re in America. You can see for yourself in the vids below, note they contain some disturbing content but if you’ve played Silent Hill you should expect that already.

This rumor is FALSE, and completely inaccurate.  ABSOLUTELY NO CONTENT WAS CENSORED IN SILENT HILL HD COLLECTION.  There is a 1.5 second hitch in the loading of this scene, and so it fades in from black on the first second of the scene, aside from that the entire scene is depicted as it was in the original game.  People need to get their facts straight before they post nonsense like this.

That’s why I posted the possibility of it being a glitch in the timing along with pointing out SH’s history of edits, lad. It can be tricky to tell from time to time. Silent Hill has suffered from such edits in the past as it was ported to other countries and even got edits after it was released.
