Skyrim Developers Go Nuts with In-House Game Jam

Skyrim Developers Go Nuts with In-House Game Jam

Dave Bast 13 Feb

The folks over at Bethesda decided to unwind after completing their work on Skyrim… by doing more work on Skyrim. Who can blame them really? With a world as robust as theirs, who wouldn’t want to fiddle around. The rules of this in-house Game Jam were simple, developers took a week to add anything they want to Skyrim… anything.

Part of me wishes that the game was pushed back a week to implement some of these features, specifically the spell combination system. But I know it doesn’t work like that. Still though, some of these features do more for Skyrim’s gameplay than the ones that made it into the game.

Not all of these additions were serious (I’m looking at you giant crab!), but most seem like legitimate features that could have had a place in the game itself. Maybe developers could do things like this more often, only, you know, before the game is released.
