Type-Moon, known for their modern fantasy visual novels written by Nasu Kinoko have given a release date for Witch on the Holy Night following numerous delays. Type-Moon are known as the original creators of the visual novels Tsukihime and Fate/Stay Night, which have been adapted into various anime, manga, and games. Mahou Tsukai no Yoru: Witch on the Holy Night is going to be their latest visual novel release after its 2008 announcement.
Mahou Tsukai no Yoru, officially translated as Witch on the Holy Night, takes place in the late 1980s, focusing on the sorceress Aoko Aozaki, who despite making very few appearances in Type-Moon works, is an important character in the universe. It is based on a novel written by Nasu in 1996, and adaption into a visual novel was announced in 2008 after the success of Tsukihime and Fate/.
Unlike Nasu’s other visual novels, Witch on the Holy Night will be an all-ages kinetic novel written in the third person, meaning (thankfully) none of Nasu’s notoriously bad sex scenes, and (unfortunately) none of the branching plots which take the storyline in directions beyond imagination. People familiar with Type-Moon visual novels and anime adaptions of works will recognize the main protagonist Aoko Aozaki, who appeared in the prologue and epilogue of Tsukihime, and was a final boss in the fighting game Melty Blood.
Screenshots of Witch on the Holy Night show a significant departure from the usual presentation of Type-Moon visual novels, which had various sprites depicting the characters and CGs for the more important scenes. The novel uses some cutins with backgrounds from time to time, a style comparable to the What a Beautiful series published by Liar Soft. The sprites and backgrounds merge well in a way that gives a much more cinematic feel. The illustrator for the visual novel is Koyama Hirokazu, who previously illustrated the novel DDD also by Nasu.
This is something for visual novel and Type-Moon fans to look forward to, as Aoko’s story has pretty much been untold since her debut appearance in Tsukihime. On the next page, uncheck the box in the yellow part (toolbar crapware, nobody wants that) and click the Mahou Tsukai link above it. I couldn’t find any other links, sorry. If someone uploads it elsewhere not in Russian, tell me and I’ll put the links here.

I don’t know man the H-scenes were part of what made it a better visual novel and what he started his works as. Sure I don’t need it but having good art like this and no sex scenes is a bad move imo as it takes out some of what made his visual novels.
