Now this is quite the fail, Modern Warfare 3 player HotShot__01 was landed with a hefty 14-year ban for boosting. If you don’t know, boosting is deliberate exploitation of game mechanics to level up at a much faster rate than you are normally expected to. The most common form is people willingly letting you kill them. This is considered an exploit and a bannable offense.
After being smacked with a ban lasting far beyond the heat death of the universe, HotShot__01 took to Twitter and started to request an unban thinking he did nothing wrong. Normally when you beg to be unbanned, you either apologize or say you weren’t aware it was against the rules. What did HotShot__01 do? Admitted straight up that he bought 6 PS3s and 6 copies of the game. This comes out to a total of around $1500+ dollars by my rough estimate, and that he was doing it to boost in reply to Robert Bowling when he asked what he did.
Even though I hate cheaters personally, I feel that 5000 days is a little bit too far. I’d really just reset their characters and say “Pull that again and you’re out of here”. What are your thoughts? Does boosting deserve a ban for a decade and a half, or do Infinity Ward need to put in automatic protections against it such as capping EXP gains per match?
I wonder if he’s related to HotShotGG.
