In a surprising bit of news, the founder of Mojang and creator of Minecraft announced that he has stepped down as the lead developer of Minecraft, and the mantle has been handed to Jens Bergensten. The pair have worked on Minecraft for a year, and Notch feels he and Bergensten get along spectacularly when working together.
This means that Jens now has final say in all Minecraft design decisions. Whether this is a good or a bad thing will not be known until Jens starts showing what his colors and ideas are. Minecraft is largely complete and has been released, however the amount of time taken to develop this game compared to the amount of content leaves quite a lot of room for expansion and development. I’m sure they can steal some ideas from Terraria and vice-versa. A congratulations to Jens Bergensten on his new position at Mojang.
