Battlefield 3 is a game loaded with profanity and graphic violence along with some controversial images. Unfortunately, the rules that apply to the games content do not apply to the players outside the game. You would think that the excessive in-game profanity would allow for any rendition of The Aristocrats in their games but, they don’t.
A gamer who goes by the name Roger, told story of how he was banned on Reddit as he had problems logging into Battlefield 3, and after contacting a support advisor, he was informed that he was given a 3 day ban for inappropriate language. His run of the foul mouth is detailed in the next paragraph.
An email he got said “Hello ,
Your Electronic Arts account has been suspended for 72 hours for violating the Terms of Services for Electronic Arts Online.
Violation:Inappropriate language
[almost as badass as germany. Switzerland: they do a lot of stuff I think that just about sums up europe.]”
There are two things wrong with this, things that happen on a forum should not cause loss of gameplay and vice versa, secondly, if “ass” is such a bad word then why don’t they filter it out? EA just lost a lot of respect with me for even having a stance against inappropriate language, outside of just saying “So what?” and moving on with their lives.
One detail of his post on Reddit however is that a message from the Battlefield Community Manager, showing that he has done quite a lot of trolling, and offensive posts (that he has been nice enough to not link to), including rape jokes which are simply not cool at all. So, maybe he did deserve it after all.
